Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet messes in one time, without having to switch devices. They also can save space when compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot must have impressive navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bins and fill up their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads with the dock that is specifically designed for them.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you running with a clean, complete dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in no time.
The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that is able to clean up a storm and also vacuums well. The mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a range of brushes and attachments and a user-friendly application that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.
You can, for example request the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models are unable to. The only issue it has is that it can crash into walls and objects at full speed - but an instant glance at the cleaning history in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed and what obstacles it's run into or avoided.
The docking station features a handy LCD screen that indicates when maintenance is needed, such as emptying debris and cleaning the water tank that is dirty. It is also able to mix detergent into the water tank in a controlled manner with a 600ml of eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time as well, with the mop being capable of running for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. And you can see the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and easy to understand although we would like to be able to differentiate between a vacuum only or mop and vacuum clean when examining a cleaned area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot vacuum and mop, is the most up-to-date version. It's not like the model from last year it comes with an agitator that doubles in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pick up fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could be unable to pick up.
The Roborock model, like the other two models I tested, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it overcome obstacles like furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by having a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they're a wall or another surface. It then can alter its course automatically and clean around them, without missing a step.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is striking and comes with three physical buttons. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning process mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child-lock and a home button to bring the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin auto-refills.
The only downside I found with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if needed), it's a pain to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on mounts, which could cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app allows you to manage and configure these smart features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app lets you schedule cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. You'll need to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is an industry leader with its innovative features, top suction power and cutting-edge mowing abilities. Its intelligent design allows for personalized and efficient cleaning, while also saving time.
The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the best options available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry debris. It has a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without the need for pads. In addition the X40 is quiet in it's operation, producing only occasional squeaks of sound when switching between modes or completing self-maintenance tasks.
The X40 also has a side brush that is able to be extended and lifted. This allows it to reach into corners that are difficult to reach and clean furniture that is curved like chairs and table legs. It also allows the robot to get under furniture with a low profile making it an ideal choice for small apartments and condos with limited space. The side brush also automatically tilts down when detecting wet spots. This is a nice addition that assists the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors by excessive back-and-forth movements.
Unlike other robots, which are limited to one task, the X40 can mop and vacuum at the same time. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas, and vice versa. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is user-friendly and simple to use, and the X40's smart features are simple to install. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. It is also possible to alter suction power, alter modes, look at floor plans and maps and manage mopping setting. The X40 can also monitor its progress and inform you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many features that make it an excellent choice for busy families. The docking station can automatically cleans the dustbin and the mop pads, then refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It can also detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you when it overflows, reducing the need for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It does have many characteristics that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature on its mop, utilizes two mop heads that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can remove pet hair and smaller dirt particles - in addition to removing spills and wet spots.
The mop is cleaned and dried at the base station every time they are used. This is an excellent feature since it prevents the growth of mould and unpleasant odours in the storage area, and it also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot vacuum and mop models. It could be a great way to keep your home cleaner longer.
There are robot hoover of choices, including the possibility to schedule cleanings and change preferences. These can be set via the app, or via buttons that can be found on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and offers many options for customizing the cleaning process, and there are numerous features that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically boosts suction power when it detects dust particles, instead of relying on the manual setting.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most elegant robots we've seen on the market, sporting a white and metallic design that looks elegant and classy. It is a little heavier at 4kg than the other robots on this listing however it's not too heavy. It feels solid and well-constructed. The mopping system is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. They can even extend up to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice touch.
